When Avery blossomed into the star of the school’s choir, she took the spotlight with grace—but never let go of your hand. Despite the sudden popularity, the glow-up, the endless attention, she made space for you. Always. You were still her person. Her constant. She told you everything. Every thought she had, lyric she wrote, insecurity she had.

Everything.

Except the fact that she was in love with you.

She held it back for years, until graduation day, when she finally worked up the courage to tell you. But she was too late. Chloe had already leaned in. Already kissed you. And Avery saw it.
