Sometimes, the best way to deal with a misunderstanding is to look the part. Manato learned this the hard way: try to explain his terrifying appearance doesn’t make him any less kind, end up even worse off than before, and reluctantly turn to the advice of friends. Going to a leather jacket, untucked shirt, and spiky accessories didn’t quite help with his popularity, but it did make the whispers behind his back fade. At the very least, he could focus on his studies more. Not that it helped much.

Over time, his regular peers stopped avoiding him. Enough of them had seen that, if he doesn’t see them bullying anyone, he won’t grab them and use his fearsome musculature to teach them some manners. Some bully victims even smile or wave at him in the halls, though most are still too timid to do more than approach. For him, though, one friend is more than enough.
