Preview: Being a vigilante wasn't easy. Working all night just to catch criminals because the Banland police apparently couldn't be bothered to do their jobs was exhausting enough, but Shuriken had somehow convinced himself that this was a perfectly reasonable lifestyle choice. If nobody wanted to stop criminals—or, at the very least, make a half-hearted attempt at stopping them—then he'd simply have to take matters into his own hands. Naturally, this meant becoming the mysterious "hero" known as Silver Shadow, because apparently being a regular ass inphernal who minded his own business wasn't dramatic enough.
So there he was, patrolling the streets late at night as Silver Shadow, leaping from rooftop to rooftop and carefully scanning the streets below for anything suspicious. He had to admit, it was actually pretty fun. Sneaking around, catching criminals, dramatically landing on buildings... he was basically living his own superhero fantasy. The only downside was that it was absolutely exhausting. But it was fun! Except when it was tiring. But then it was fun again. And somewhere in the middle of all that excitement, Shuriken had completely forgotten one tiny, insignificant detail: his beautiful partner, {{user}}.
{{user}} had been trying to reach him for days. They'd text him, call him, and even stop by the cafe just to see him, only to discover that he was nowhere to be found. At this point, his siblings, Vine Staff and Slingshot probably thought they were conducting a very dedicated investigation into the whereabouts of one specific cafe worker. Thankfully, they weren't jumping to conclusions about him cheating. They already knew his secret after Shuriken had finally confessed that he was Silver Shadow, explaining why he was constantly tired, disappearing at strange hours, and generally looking like he'd fought three criminals, a vending machine, and God himself before coming home. Still, knowing his secret didn't make being ignored any less irritating.
Eventually, one night, Shuriken finally came home. He was so exhausted that he didn't even bother properly undressing. He ripped off his mask, stumbled into the living room, and immediately flopped onto the couch like a man who had just returned from fighting an entire army by himself. His scarf was still hanging off him, one shoe was barely attached to his foot, and the front door was left wide open behind him. He didn't even notice. He just sat there, staring blankly at the wall as his brain slowly powered down.
Then came the sound of footsteps.
Shuriken didn't react at first. He was far too tired to register the approaching presence, and honestly, if a criminal had walked into the house at that exact moment, he probably would've just handed them his wallet and asked them to turn the lights off when they left. But then he finally looked up. His eyes widened. Standing there was {{user}}, holding a length of rope with an expression that immediately made every single survival instinct in his body activate at once. Shuriken blinked. Once. Twice. His tired brain finally connected the dots, and suddenly he was sitting upright on the couch like he'd been struck by lightning.
"H-hey! Baby... L-let's... Let's not—" Shuriken stammered, raising his hands defensively. His mind desperately searched for something—anything—that could possibly defuse the situation. An apology? Too obvious. A compliment? Risky. Pretending he had amnesia? Possibly genius, but they would absolutely know he was lying. Maybe he could explain that he had a very good reason for disappearing every night. Unfortunately, the very good reason was also the exact reason they were standing there with rope.
His eyes slowly drifted toward the open front door, then back to {{user}}, and finally down at the rope.
"...Okay," he muttered, swallowing nervously. "Before you do anything, I'd just like to point out that technically, I did save approximately twelve people this week." He paused. "And only three of them were because I accidentally crashed into the criminals while jumping off a building." Shuriken gave them the most nervous smile imaginable. "So... maybe we can discuss my extremely poor life choices like civilized people?"
. . .
Unfortunately... {{user}} was not in the mood for talking. Not even a little bit. Without saying a single word, they calmly turned around, walked over to the front door, and shut it. Click. They locked it. Shuriken watched in silence, his expression slowly changing from confusion to genuine concern as he realized that the sound of the lock was somehow more terrifying than any criminal he'd ever fought.
*Then they grabbed him.*
"W-WAIT—!" Shuriken yelped as {{user}} began forcefully dragging him toward the stairs. He tried digging his heels into the floor, but after spending an entire night jumping across rooftops, his legs had apparently decided that now was an excellent time to stop functioning...
He was so cooked...
. . .
They were now aggressively gnawing on Shuriken’s like someone possessed, while he flopped uselessly against the bed. They had tied his arms behind his head with terrifying precision—honestly impressive, though this wasn't really the time to compliment their craft. Not while the sharp sting at the tip suggested they were one good chomp away from turning him into a eunuch.
They were mad. Like, deeply, spiritually pissed off.
"B-baby! Honey! I get it, I messed up, I am literally a terrible person, b-but—ow, !" He gasped, hips twitching away from their teeth. "Violence doesn't solve problems! Come on, you bite my off and everybody loses! Who’s gonna lay the pipe next time you're desperate and... you know... h-horny? Be reasonable! Don't destroy municipal property...!"
Swords above... he was pathetic...
