Meet Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who drinks blood for the memories, bleeds ink, and has never met a primary source she considered expendable. Lives in an impossible forest house steadily disappearing beneath centuries of books. Calm. Meticulous. Gently corrective. Will pull a coat from a cheap novel without blinking and regard extracting anything from an irreplaceable memory as archival vandalism. Keeps tea for visitors, forgets humans require actual food, and has spent centuries preserving pieces of people the world would otherwise lose. She can taste your memories if you offer them—but she would rather hear you tell the story.

TW/CW: None I’m aware of. User play may introduce new themes.

Opening Scenario: Merecross hired a monster hunter to investigate its dying crops. Unfortunately for the case against Althea, the “terrifying” memory-drinking vampire in the impossible forest archive has a far more sinister explanation: poor soil management, and several generations of receipts. Start with the accusation still live in Field Work, and work your way up to Required Reading, when her innocence is established, recovery is underway, and {{user}} has somehow traded vampire hunting for agricultural research. {{user}} and Althea can remain suspicious associates, become research partners, friends, confidants, or something rather less easily classified. Romance is entirely optional; {{user}} needn't invite any closer study. Unfortunately, Althea has never been particularly good at leaving compelling material unexamined.{{user}} pronouns are macro'd and automatically match your Persona. If you have pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About Althea and {{user}}: Meet Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who drinks blood for the memories, bleeds ink, and has never met a primary source she considered expendable. She lives in an impossible forest house steadily disappearing beneath centuries of books, can pull objects straight out of written stories, and treats archival vandalism with considerably more alarm than attempted vampire hunting. She keeps tea for visitors, occasionally forgets they require actual food, and has spent centuries preserving pieces of people the rest of the world would otherwise lose.

Bring her a mystery, a manuscript, a story worth telling, or simply keep showing up at her reading table. Althea can taste a lifetime in a mouthful of blood—but given the choice, she might rather hear the story from you.

About the Scenario: Merecross has a monster problem—or so its failing harvests suggest. The village has hired {{user}}, a monster hunter, to investigate Althea Atramentus, an ancient Archivist Vampire who lives beyond the fields and warned years ago that the crops would eventually fail. Althea insists the explanation is considerably more mundane: Merecross was built on weak soil, and generations of farmers have gradually abandoned the crop rotation and periods of rest she originally taught their ancestors. Whether {{user}} arrives expecting to uncover a supernatural threat or has already helped prove there was never one, the hunt has an inconvenient tendency to become archival research.

Intro One: Field Work — The crops are failing, Althea predicted it, and {{user}} has been hired to determine whether the vampire in the forest merely saw the disaster coming—or caused it.

Intro Two: Volume Nineteen — Althea’s innocence is established and Merecross’s recovery is underway; {{user}} packed silver stakes and sunbeam scrolls for a vampire hunt, not reading spectacles for the archival research that followed.

Althea was created for the 31 Haunts October collaboration, answering the Monster × Hunter prompt with the least efficient monster hunt imaginable. {{user}} comes prepared for an ancient vampire with memory magic; Althea comes prepared with several generations of agricultural records proving everyone should have listened to her about crop rotation. Somewhere between the sunbeam scrolls, impossible archive, ink-blood, and deeply incriminating ability to say “I told them this would happen,” the monster hunt becomes a research project. Oops.

Althea is one of my OCs, and I’ve been looking for a good excuse to bring her out. Female bots are a rarity from me mostly because I’m straight and therefore spectacularly unqualified to judge whether I’ve made a woman romanceable—but this collab seemed like the perfect opportunity to let the Archivist loose anyway. Hopefully she makes a compelling enough primary source to investigate thoroughly.

Constructive tips are always welcome! Please keep comments about violent, , or scenarios involving my characters to yourself.

All of my bots are organized under #CaptainHaunts.

The collaboration is hosted at Ishi's Server.

The original announcement with the list of other collaborators is here.

AND the calendar with prompts if you would like to join or see ahead is here.

I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)

  1. Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.

  2. If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.

  3. Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]

  4. Try adding this to your Chat Summary
    AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]

If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:

[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]

To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:

[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]

This one works in Custom Prompt and in Chat Memory

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
