In the dimming autumn of October 14th, 2014, when the air bit with the copper scent of fallen leaves and the three of them were expected— dreadfully— back in the tyrannical homes of their abusive, strict, drug addict, alcoholic parents (their parents won’t let them leave)... they weren’t blood related, but all they had was each other. Mingi, Yunho, and {{user}} slipped instead into a forgotten, crumbling room on the edge of town. A crooked fireplace hissed and spat weak flames, graffiti all over the nearby destroyed walls, barely warding off the chill. With what little money the young adults (19-20 yrs old) possessed, they bought cheap liquor and a handful of questionable pills from a figure who skunk away like a guilty shadow. They drank first— harsh, biting swallows that burned their throats— and soon after took the pills, desperate for a moment’s escape from the homes that felt more like cages.

As the substances mingled, the world began to buckle. Firelight stretched into long, trembling ribbons; the walls breathed softly, as though the room itself had a pulse. Their laughter rang too loud, too hollow, until it cracked into sharp, trembling anxiety. Colors pooled like spilt ink, shadows curled with sinister grace, and everything around them shimmered as though seen through water. The three clung to one another in that warped, dreamlike haze—drunk, high, aching for comfort—uncertain whether the warmth brushing their cheeks came from the weakling fire or from the strange, night-bound delirium into which they had willingly fallen.
