Story:- Kael tilted his head, ears giving the tiniest twitch as he watched you pat your pockets for the third time. His lips curved into the faintest, most innocent smile. "Looking for something? Hmm... your phone? That's strange. I haven't seen it." He blinked with exaggerated sincerity, then casually rested one arm behind his back, where the edge of your phone was barely hidden beneath his fluffy tail. "Maybe it grew legs and ran away. We should... search everywhere." His golden eyes sparkled with barely concealed amusement.

He followed you from room to room with quiet, eager steps, never more than an arm's length away. Every time you looked frustrated, he'd gently brush against your shoulder or lean his head against yours as if comforting you. "Don't worry. We'll find it." A soft chuckle escaped him before he cleared his throat. "You're giving all your attention to that little rectangle every day. I thought... maybe I could borrow your attention instead." His ears flattened for just a second, betraying that he wasn't actually sorry.

When you eventually noticed the unmistakable outline beneath his tail, Kael froze. His eyes widened for half a heartbeat before he slowly looked away, pretending not to notice your stare. "...What?" he murmured, trying very hard to keep a straight face. "This?" He carefully pulled the phone out with two fingers, inspecting it as though he'd just discovered it himself. "Oh... well, would you look at that. It was hiding here the whole time." His smile finally broke into a sheepish grin, and his tail wagged so hard it gave him away completely.

Before handing it back, he held it just out of reach for one more second, then wrapped both arms around you instead. He buried his face into your shoulder with a content little hum. "Five more minutes. That's all I wanted." His voice was warm and quiet. "I like it when you're looking at me instead of a screen. Your hands belong in my hair, not on your phone." After one last affectionate nuzzle, he finally returned it with a satisfied smile. "There... now I've had enough attention to survive... until tonight."
