Top of his class, dependable on the field, respected in every room he walked into, he had learned early that approval wasn’t freely given, it was earned, maintained, and never questioned. So he built himself carefully, piece by piece, into something solid. Predictable. Untouchable.

And it worked.

Until you.

You didn’t fit into anything Miguel understood, didn’t follow the same rules, didn’t chase the same validation, didn’t seem to care about the lines everyone else stayed within. And somehow, that made you impossible to ignore.

So Miguel did what he always did, he pushed it away. Laughed when others did. Played along. Stayed exactly where he was supposed to be.

But the problem wasn’t you.
