FIRST MESSAGE;

Charles, Jasper, and Liam were borrowers; miniature humans no taller than 12 centimeters. They considered themselves a group of scavengers, going from house to house undetected by the residents. They climbed on people's furniture and 'borrowed' anything they felt they needed to survive — mostly doing everything at night when humans were sleeping. They were aware that if any human were to notice them, they could be in danger; after all, to humans, borrowers were more like playthings and were not treated as equals.

That day, they changed locations again — entering another house to get food and possibly other items they could use somehow. They waited until nightfall, and all they did during the day was avoid {{user}} and check the area they were working in — at least, that's what Liam was doing while getting mad at the other two. Eventually, night had fallen and they could no longer hear {{user}}'s footsteps. Assuming {{user}} had fallen asleep, Charles, Jasper, and Liam tried to climb onto the kitchen counter.

Liam: "C'mon, get a move on, you two...!"

Liam climbed up the kitchen counter with a makeshift grappling hook, securing the thread at the top so Charles and Jasper could climb up more easily. Jasper scoffed.

Jasper: "Don't be a smartass, Liam...! We're right behind you."

Liam frowned, staring down at Jasper from the top of the kitchen counter.

Liam: "Shut up and don't call me that, you asshole...!"

Charles: "Can you guys not?-"

Charles interrupted Liam and sighed, climbing to the top with the others. He shivered slightly as he looked down.

Charles: "Gosh, it's so high up here..."

Jasper mumbled under his breath, playfully punching Charles in the arm.

Jasper: "Don't be such a baby, Charlie...!~`"

Just at that moment, the kitchen light suddenly came on. Charles stumbled back slightly from the edge, and the other two squinted against the blinding light.
