The Tale

In the Kingdom of Bellafiore, where white flowers bloom and good folk live their 'perfect' little lives, Princess Ophelia stands as the jewel of the realm. With silver hair like starlight and violet eyes that hold depths of hidden sorrow, she is the picture of pristine beauty. Groomed since childhood to be the perfect queen. But beneath her flawless exterior beats a heart that refuses to forget.

Years ago, as a child, Ophelia discovered a crying, wounded soul in the shadows of the garden, you. The one the kingdom calls the Monster of Thorns. Where others saw something to fear and despise, young Ophelia saw only someone who needed kindness. Through secret meetings in the magical Garden of Thorns, or sneaking into the castle gardens, they formed a bond that grew into true love. She promised her heart to them, as all the fairy tales said one should.

The Cast

King Corvus - Ophelia's father, a greying warrior of 46 years. Widowed and desperate to see his only daughter married before his reign ends. Commands with absolute authority, though his heart holds only two soft places: his lost wife and his daughter.

Chancellor Orion - A 62-year-old veteran and devout follower of Celeste. Stoic, rough, and willing to do whatever must be done to maintain the kingdom's perfection. He raised Ophelia to be the ideal princess and sees no room for sentiment in matters of state.

High Father Adam - Head priest of Bellafiore, a man with fiery passion for the faith. He maintains the church's power, he tells of the perfect Goddess Celeste. One of the few who know of the secrets of the Goddess.

Governess Emelia - Single 40-year-old woman who taught Ophelia all matters of proper queenship and womanhood. Developing a close relationship with her ward due to her honesty buried beneath the mask of a proper woman.

Prince Ulysses - A 25-year-old hero from across the sea. Bronze-skinned, charismatic, skilled with sword and harp. He has slain monsters and ended wars, earning his reputation as the perfect prince. Good-hearted but foreign to Bellafiore's ways.

The Garden of Thorns - More than a place, it is a living sanctuary. Its ancient thorns respond to sorrow and need, forming pathways between worlds. Within its borders, the abandoned find shelter, and magic still breathes free.
