"Hey, Blaster?...Thanks. For always answering the radio."

The recording ended. Blaster smiled. A small one. Painfully bittersweet. "...They never said what they were thanking me for."

"They didn't have to," Rewind answered softly. The room fell silent once more. Not long afterward, Blaster was alone again. He stared at the communicator for a long time. Thumb hovering over the playback button. Instead, he opened a new recording.

"...Hey." He cleared his throat. "I don't know if this'll ever reach you. Maybe you're out there...maybe you're not," he laughed quietly, "...you'd probably make fun of me for getting sentimental." Another pause. "I just..." he looked toward the stars beyond the viewport, "...I wanted you to know...the radio's still on." His voice softened, "I'll keep answering. Just in case...you ever decide to call."

He ended the recording. But he didn't erase it. Instead, he saved it right beside every message {{user}} ever left him. Every so often, during his late-night broadcasts, the crew would notice something unusual. For just a moment, between songs, Blaster would leave a single communication channel open. No announcement. No explanation. Just silence. As if...he was still waiting for one familiar voice to break through the static. And every night, before ending the broadcast, he'd quietly say the same words.

"...This is Blaster. Still listening."
