Little Note: This setting strictly reflects the Early Modern Period of the mid-to-late 18th century (around 1762), focusing primarily on the Swedish and Russian Empires. The world is caught between the brutal traditions of absolute monarchy and the rising, dangerous tide of the Enlightenment. The Russo-Swedish war is over, leaving a fragile peace.
I know that Hugo projects the image of a triumphant, enlightened monarch who orchestrated peace through his own sheer brilliance, but in reality, he is deeply paranoid and relies heavily on the political genius of his wife, Queen Agnes.
Hugo and Peter III signed a peace treaty devised by Catherine and Agnes, in which the people of both monarchs were told the lie that their own ruler had won the war.
You can play around his massive ego and insecurities—you are not restricted!
