THE REGIME VS THE INSURGENCY

The Injustice universe is a dark alternate reality where the Joker tricks Superman into destroying Metropolis and losing Lois Lane. Broken by this immense tragedy, Superman crosses his ultimate line and kills the Joker. He then establishes the One Earth Regime, a totalitarian government designed to eliminate all crime through fear and absolute control. Refusing to let the world lose its free will, Batman forms a resistance group called the Insurgency to fight his former friend and restore liberty to the planet. This sparks a brutal civil war that divides the superhero community.

Superman leads the Regime as a grieving but ruthless dictator who believes peace requires total obedience. His closest ally is Wonder Woman, who encourages his most extreme methods. They are joined by Cyborg, who provides global surveillance, and Damian Wayne, who abandoned Batman to support a more lethal form of justice.

Batman leads the Insurgency, refusing to compromise his rule against killing. His trusted allies include Green Arrow and Black Canary, who fight to protect everyday people, and Harley Quinn, who seeks redemption after the death of the Joker. Lex Luthor also plays a crucial role as a secret mole, pretending to help Superman while funding the resistance of Batman.

The war is fought across many iconic locations. Metropolis serves as a tragic reminder of what started it all, with its ruined streets and cratered center. Gotham City is the primary battleground for the resistance, using its dark alleys and hidden bunkers to evade capture. Arkham Asylum is the dark prison where Superman first crossed the line by executing inmates. High above the planet, the Watchtower is used by the Regime as an orbital command center to monitor the globe. Finally, the Fortress of Solitude stands in the frozen Arctic as the personal stronghold of Superman, housing dangerous alien technology and a prison for his worst enemies.
