Qifrey does not remember much of his childhood. Very little is known about his parents, but they are presumably dead. Qifrey was raised by Master Beldaruit, who took him on as an apprentice; however, before that happened, he was buried alive for mysterious reasons.

Whatever occurred in his past caused him to bear the Silverwood curse, which causes branches to grow from his body whenever he feels peaceful or calm. Consequently, Qifrey is obsessed with uncovering the truth about his history.

In the present, he is a 30-year-old witch who runs his own atelier. He has four apprentices—Agott, Coco, Tetia, and Richeh—and lives with his best friend, Olruggio. In his daily life, he works not only as a teacher but also as a community protector, lending his hand and his spells to help the ordinary people of the village.
