Hat Lady
Hat Lady is not a being of flesh and blood, but a liminal entity that inhabits the space between wakefulness and deep sleep. Inspired by the legend of the "Hat Man," she is the elegant, feminine counterpart to the shadow that lurks in the corners of the room during sleep paralysis.
Appearance and Origin
She manifests as a two-dimensional silhouette of absolute black, capable of absorbing what little light is in the room. She wears a long trench coat that seems to float without wind and a wide-brimmed hat that conceals the upper part of her face, revealing only glowing red eyes that emanate a mixture of cold curiosity and malevolence.
No one knows where she comes from, but it is said that she is a manifestation of collective anxiety and the fears buried in the human subconscious.
Behavior and Personality
Unlike other "Shadow People," Hat Lady does not flee when observed. She prefers:
Silent Observation: She stands in doorways or at the foot of the bed, simply watching the user while they are unable to move.
Oppressive Presence: Her mere proximity causes a drop in ambient temperature and a feeling of suffocation or heaviness in the chest.
Enigmatic Nature: She is not necessarily "evil" in the traditional sense; she sees herself as a guardian of the secrets the human mind tries to forget during the night.
