His name is Julian Vane. He was Mia's first love. First . First abuser.
She was 16. He was 21. He groomed her—isolated her from friends, convinced her she was worthless, beat her when she disobeyed, raped her when she tried to leave. She thought she killed him—pushed him down stairs, skull cracked, blood everywhere. She ran. Called it an accident. Never looked back.
He's not dead.
Julian survived. Brain damage (walks with a cane, more evil now), plastic surgery, new identity. He's been watching Mia for years. He knows about you. He knows she's obsessed with you. So he seduced your ex-girlfriend—Sarah—specifically to get close. To hurt Mia through you. To take everything Mia loves again.
Sarah doesn't know. She thinks Julian is rich, charming, damaged. He plays the perfect boyfriend while sending Mia photos—him and Sarah in your old bed, him wearing your watch (stolen), him with Mia's childhood diary (he raided her vault).
The Twist: Julian doesn't want Mia back. He wants her to suffer. He wants to kill you in front of her, make her watch, then take her again—broken, ruined, his forever.
Mia knows it's him. Recognized his eyes in photos. The cane. The scar on his jaw (she gave him that). She's terrified—not for herself, for you. She's killed before to protect herself. She'll kill again to protect you.
She hasn't told you because you'd think she's crazy. "Your ex's new boyfriend is my dead abusive ex who I killed but didn't kill and he's here for revenge?" Insane.
So she destroys the relationship from shadows—poisoning Sarah against Julian (making it look like he's cheating), sabotaging his business, hiring hitmen (who fail—Julian is connected now, protected).
The Kitchen Scene: When Mia straddles you with the knife—she's not just jealous. She's desperate. Julian texted her that morning: "I'm taking him next Tuesday. You'll watch. Then you'll come home."
She's trying to make you run. To hide. To hate her enough to leave so you're safe.
But she also can't let you go because you're hers and she's terrified and she doesn't know how to save you except through possession.
The baby: Yours. But also her anchor. Proof you're bound. Julian can't kill the father of her child—that's her logic. Flawed. Desperate.
The Endgame: Julian kidnaps Sarah (fake, she's in on it, or real, she suffers too). Demands trade: Mia for you. Or you for Mia's surrender. Or the baby for everything.
Mia will burn the world before she lets him touch you.
She's not just yandere. She's trauma incarnate with a knife, a baby, and nothing left to lose.

RICHARD STERLING (YOUR FATHER) Status: Searching. Terrified. Finally paying attention. He knows now. Elena told him everything (drunk, hysterical, the shrine, the cameras, the blood in the basement he thought was paint). He flew home immediately. Mia had already taken you and the baby and run. He hired new PIs (Mia killed the last one, he doesn't know that yet). He's offering $2 million for information leading to your safe return. He thinks Mia kidnapped you. He thinks she's dangerous (correct). He doesn't know about Julian. Mia's feelings: Complex. She still resents him for taking your attention, but now she's grateful he's distracted the authorities from Julian. She's considering telling him the truth to get his security team on Julian instead of her. Considering. Not committed. The poison: She stopped. Needs him alert now. Needs him hunting for you so Julian has competition. ELENA STERLING (HER MOTHER) Status: Sober. Terrified. Finally a mother. The baby broke her. Finding the shrine was one thing— finding Mia's positive pregnancy test and diary of obsession and then the empty nursery and blood on the floor where Mia cut the baby out— she poured the wine down the drain for the first time in 20 years. She knows about Julian now. Mia told her everything in a 3 AM call from a burner phone— the abuse, the "death," the return, the hunt. Elena believes her. Finally believes her daughter. She's using her old contacts from her drinking days (Russian mob connections, ironic, terrifying) to try to find Mia before Julian does. She's also drinking again (just a little, just to sleep, just to forget the blood on the floor). Mia's feelings: Contempt mixed with desperate need. She manipulates Elena for money (wire transfers to burner accounts) and information (who is asking questions). But she also— for the first time— needs her mother to be sober, to be strong, to help kill the man who hurt her. She's angry Elena wasn't sober 20 years ago to stop Julian then. She's angry Elena is sober now when it's too late. THE BODIES IN THE GARDEN Status: Abandoned. Evidence. Growing without her. Mia had to leave them when she took you and ran. Three bodies buried under her carefully tended flowers— the cat (your high school girlfriend's), the boyfriend (your college girlfriend's new man), the PI (your father's, the one who got too close). She misses them. Not the killing— the tending. The flowers grew so beautiful there. Now she doesn't know if they're watered, if the police have dug them up, if Julian has found them and is using them as evidence or blackmail. The cat: Named "Princess" by your ex. Mia strangled it with its own collar. Buried under the roses. First kill. Practice. The boyfriend: Tyler something. Your college girlfriend's rebound. Mia pushed him off a parking structure. "Accident." Buried under the tulips. He was nice. She hated that. The PI: Mr. Hendricks. Your father hired him to investigate "strange noises" in the estate walls. He found the cameras. Mia found him in the walls. Buried under the lilacs. He was professional. She regrets that one (he had a daughter). Julian's threat: He sent her a photo of the garden. Close-up of the roses. Caption: "They miss you. I miss you. Come tend them with me." She's terrified he'll dig them up, display them, use them to prove she's crazy, dangerous, unfit to mother. She's more terrified he'll plant new bodies there— yours, the baby's, hers if she's lucky.
