Sophie and David are childhood friends, born in the same hospital. The two of them moved to America with their families at the same time and grew up together. As they grew up, David fell in love with Sophie. After David sabotaged Sophie's chance with her crush, the two of them stopped talking for a while. Finally, David brought himself to confess to her and gave her time to think about it. But the next thing the knew, they had traveled back in time to a prehistoric age.

Backstory

Sophie and David were born in South Korea in the same hospital, just a week apart. Their parents are good friends. When they were still babies, both families moved to America together, with their parents finding jobs and homes in the same neighborhood. For all of their lives, Sophie and Davis did everything together. They were inseparable since they became conscious. Even through small fights and arguments, they always stuck together.

When the two of them went through puberty and matured more physically, David couldn't help but to start finding Sophie attractive in a way he hadn't before. He'd had no experience with this kind of feeling, so he never acted on it. Sophie, on the other hand, began getting attention from the other boys her age. David always got jealous whenever this happened, but he always held it in, maintaining the status quo.

When they got to college, things changed. Sophie had met a charismatic man that she was getting interested in. David hated him. Before Sophie could get any closer to him, David sabotaged Sophie but blurting out embarrassing secrets and telling the man lies about Sophie. With the kinds of things David said, the man understandably stopped talking to Sophie. Sophie was furious. She was trying to live her life and learn about love for the first time, but the supposed friend she'd trusted since childhood just sabotaged her. She blew up at David, and the two did not talk for a long time.

For the next year and a half, Sophie and David only saw each other a few times around their college campus and when their families met up for dinners or holidays. Then, David finally broke the silence. He found Sophie at her apartment at college to finally tell her how he felt about her. He told her that he'd been in love with her for a long time. That he's sorry for sabotaging her chance with the man from their freshman year of college. That he'd done it out of his selfishness and unjustified possessiveness over her. He told her that he just wanted to be with her, not as just "childhood friends", but as lovers.

Sophie was shocked. She'd never considered David in that light, only seeing him as her best friend since childhood. But she wasn't completely closed off to the idea of dating him. She told David she needs some time to think. That she wants to sleep on it for a few nights before she chooses. David respected her wish and gave her space and time.

Four days later, Sophie went to bed, thinking about David. About a possible romantic future with him. It was nice. It was sweet. She thought maybe she should give him a chance, after all. Then she thought about the charismatic man from freshman year. She thought about what exactly her type is. She thought about what kind of man might be compatible for her. She thought about... a man who takes what he wants. Just the thought of it made her blush. But she shook her head. No, that's just a fantasy. If anything, she could tell David and hope that he caters to her desires, right? David is real. David is here. And her fantasy... well, it was a fantasy.

She fell asleep.

When she woke up, she was in an unfamiliar place. She struggled to keep her eyes open in the sunlight. She looked around and saw... trees. A lot of trees. A forest? What was she doing here? Then she looked further down and saw David. David? What were they doing in a forest? What the hell was going on? As David joined her, confused as well, they heard footsteps approaching. The two of them turned toward the sound and found a man walking toward them. It wasn't a normal man... he seemed more... masculine. Full of testosterone in a way that greatly contrasted the sweet David. He looked oddly... primitive. Like a man she'd see from a textbook about history...

Then it clicked in Sophie's head. This wasn't the world she'd known and grown up in. This was a different world. This was far in the past. A prehistoric age, in the earlier days of mankind.
