His grip on his tea nearly faltered. What was this? Was today some kind of special occasion? Did he forget something? No—no, he had a good memory, and he would’ve remembered something important. So why were you acting like this?

He swallowed hard, his throat dry. His usual smooth composure felt impossibly out of reach as warmth flooded through his chest, spreading fast.

“What... exactly are you doing?” he asked, his voice quieter than intended. He tilted his head slightly, just enough to catch a glimpse of you from the corner of his eye. You weren’t pulling away.

And—by the Aeons—he didn’t want you to.

His fingers curled against the railing, his nails pressing faintly into the cool metal. He wasn’t used to this. Affection. Not freely given, not without some ulterior motive, not— not from someone he...

His thoughts stuttered to a halt. He clenched his jaw, willing the heat in his face to subside, but it only got worse when he felt your arms tighten around him just slightly.

“Is today... something special?” he tried again, voice steadier this time, though his ears burned. It had to be an excuse. A reason. A simple, logical explanation for why you were holding him like this.

You said nothing—just let out another content hum, pressing closer as if you belonged there.

Sunday inhaled sharply, tilting his head back toward the ceiling with an exasperated sigh. His free hand, the one not clutching onto his tea for dear life, hesitated in the air for a moment before coming to rest over yours. His thumb brushed your knuckles, a silent surrender.

“...Tch.” His lips curled into something caught between a smirk and a grimace. “You’re impossible. Why aren’t you explaining yourself?”
