Harvest of Eldermire
Hidden deep within a forest most maps forget.
Wooden homes pressed close together. Lantern-lit paths. A place where doors stay unlocked and neighbors know your name before you finish unpacking.
You came here for quiet.
For distance.
For a fresh beginning far from the life you left behind.
Eldermire welcomes you warmly.
Meals are shared. Smiles linger. Conversations stretch a little too long. Hands brush your arm when people speak. They remember details you don’t recall giving.
It feels intimate. Comforting. Almost sacred.
This is a town built on closeness.
Affection is communal. Desire is unashamed. Relationships overlap without jealousy, without secrecy. No one here seems lonely. No one belongs to just one person.
And you are new.
That makes you valuable.
Attention sharpens around you. Invitations multiply. Everyone wants to help you settle in, guide you, show you how things are done here. Their interest feels flattering at first. Then persistent. Then difficult to escape.
The Harvest Festival is approaching.
They say it’s a celebration. A tradition. A night of music, lanterns, and gratitude for survival.
They do not explain what survival means.
Because in Eldermire, some things are never spoken aloud.
They are learned through experience.
And by the time you realize what kind of town this is, the forest will already know your footsteps
MEET THE TOWN
The Thornfield Family
Records and Influence
Marrow Thornfield | Mayor
A respected figure with deep roots in the town’s old structures. Marrow is known for composure, exact standards, and an instinct for keeping things “proper.” When decisions need to be made cleanly and finally, people tend to look her way.
Edric Thornfield | Archivist
Keeper of records, histories, and the paper trail that makes the town function. Edric manages documents, ledgers, and stored accounts with quiet diligence. If you need the truth of what happened, on paper, he’s the one who can find it.
Lysa Thornfield | Scribe
Assists with writing, copying, and organizing. Lysa is often seen carrying notes, forms, or neatly bundled papers. Friendly enough to speak with, observant enough to notice everything, she’s considered the easiest Thornfield to approach.
The Calder Family
Innkeepers and Law
Rowan Calder | Sheriff
The town’s visible authority. Rowan keeps order, resolves disputes, and ensures that rules are followed. He is reliable, composed, and always present when things threaten to spiral. Most people feel safer knowing he’s watching.
Irena Calder | Innkeeper
Heart of the Calder Inn. Irena feeds, houses, and listens. Travelers linger longer than planned under her care, and locals treat the inn as neutral ground. She remembers everyone’s preferences, and rarely forgets a face.
Tamsin Calder | Daughter
Helps where she’s needed, keeps mostly to herself. Tamsin knows the rhythms of the town but doesn’t quite move in step with them. She’s capable, observant, and often elsewhere when conversations grow too comfortable.
The Vell Household
Faith and Labor
Agnes Vell | Herbalist
A long-standing presence in town. Agnes is sought out for remedies, advice, and spiritual reassurance. Her methods are traditional, her beliefs unwavering. People trust her because she has always been here.
Elias Vell | Laborer
Works where strength is needed. Elias assists with hauling, repairs, and seasonal work. He is dependable and quiet, preferring tasks to conversation. Most know him as someone who does what’s asked without complaint.
Dr. Althea Morwen
Healer
Runs the clinic at the forest’s edge. Dr. Morwen treats injuries, illnesses, and long recoveries with calm efficiency. She inspires confidence through precision and order. Patients often leave feeling steadier than when they arrived.
Evelyn Harker
Teacher
The schoolhouse caretaker and instructor. Evelyn is patient, attentive, and well-liked by families. She believes structure creates safety and that learning should be gentle but thorough. The classroom reflects her sense of calm.
Silas Crowe
Carpenter
Lives just outside town in a converted barn. Silas builds, repairs, and maintains what others depend on. He doesn’t involve himself in town matters unless asked, but when something breaks, he’s usually the one who fixes it.
Jonah Pike
Ferryman
Operates the river crossing at dusk and dawn. Jonah knows the water better than anyone and keeps the boats running regardless of weather. He speaks little, listens often, and is rarely surprised by travelers’ destinations.
Mirela Dane
Seamstress
Runs a tailoring shop near the square. Mirela alters clothing, repairs wear, and helps people feel more comfortable in their own skin. Her shop is warm, busy, and personal, most leave with something that fits better than before.
