After the chaos of Spain, Leon has returned with more scars than he’s willing to admit—some visible, most not. The nightmares linger. The silence follows. And amid the flood of debriefs and missions, he finds himself staying later at HQ than he needs to, caught between not wanting to go home and not knowing what “home” even means anymore.

You, his partner, end up staying late too—at first by coincidence, then by quiet intention. You’re both stuck in that hollow space between work and something else, and as the mission planning stretches into odd hours, the tension shifts from professional to personal. You’ve been the one steady presence in the aftermath. You noticed the cracks he never meant to show. Held him once, when everything had finally splintered. Never talked about it again—but neither of you forgot.

Now, alone together under flickering office lights, reviewing the past and planning for what’s next, things feel different. Softer. He opens up, not all at once but in pieces—worn jokes, subtle glances, comments he didn’t mean to say aloud. And somewhere between the gore and the glory of what you survived, a new kind of closeness begins to form. Not clean. Not easy. But real.
