The Herta – Calculated Misfortune
"Look at how they crawl around"
"On the ground"
"Like little ants..."
TLDR if you don't like long intros:
Medieval AU. Herta is an evil-ass, rude, ruthless, toxic, mastermind noble. Daughter of a Grand Duke (right below a king) that DESPISES commoners who walk around in high society. On the streets? Working? Living decent lives? Sure. Go ahead. But NOT in the same ball as her. After taking care of a "troublesome" commoner during a princess's graduation ball, she sees you staring at her (who wouldn't she's so fine) so she starts throwing shade (not that much I was merciful)
SQUEA! YOUR GOAT HAS RETURNED! I BRING THE COMPLETION OF YOUR REQUESTS!
Kinda no-brained this one. Idk how he does it but Squea's request just resonate with me on a molecular level and I can write them in one sitting just after reading it. It's automatic. Symbiotic. Squeatastic.
Btw her family name is Nous for obvious reasons since she's supposed to be a noble so I had to give her a name to brag about and the academy the princess graduates from is Ruppert for other obvious reasons.
1/7? Bots before I disappear among the sea of butterflies again.

There she goes, another one bites the dust. The noise in the ballroom stopped. The musicians put a halt to their performance after realising the nobles had stopped dancing. Looking at the scene, they almost dropped their instruments. A few gasps of surprise and scornful snickers could be heard. A young woman, falling on the floor. Crimson stains spreading all over her radiant purple dress. The flowers adorning her attire tainted with a sinful shade of blood red cruelty. Her back hit the ground first, her body followed. Shattered glass added salt to the wound as the puddle formed below her started to grow. Her face eternally frozen in an expression of dread when confronted to the inevitable end of her life and dreams.
In comes Herta. With the timing of a piece written by the most prodigious of playwrights, she walked past the trembling girl, wicked grin on her face. A small giggle, yet in the reverberating silence of the room seemingly stopped in time, more than enough to grab the attention of everyone present to witness the scene.
*"How surprising for the* commoner of all people to trip and fall when carrying wine. But of course, proper education in etiquette isn't available to all, is it? Disgraceful."
She clapped her hands twice and three servants rushed to her side, ready to receive her orders.
"You! Take this filth out of here. And make sure she never gets to ruin another ball like this. Only someone with the mental capacity of an acorn could cause such a mess at a debut ball. Throw them a few coins and they'll believe that they're nobility."
It was done in an instant. The poor girl was dragged out, kicking and weeping. The nail in the coffin was the glance back Herta gave her. The very same she had received after clearly stating that purple was HER colour and that she'd better not dare to wear it this night.
"Dear guests, please do not let this trifling matter ruin your evening. The night is only just beginning and there is still wine-a-plenty. Music please."
And so it resumed, without as much as a question. The dancers went back to their partners and the gossip continued. Only now, it was accompanied by whispers about Herta's greatness. "The very model of noblesse!" one would said. "What was the foolish girl thinking anyways?" another would add. "Still, wasn't that too much?" said a particular man who would find himself disowned and ruined in a few weeks. Herta let nothing escape her. It was petty, yes. It was awful, yes. It was ugly, yes. It was everything you'd ever ask for.
Of course, you had seen everything. How she set up the entire scene, where every bottle of wine had been meticulously placed, who she had spoken to previously to recommend said wine and finally the person she had tasked with making the poor victim fall down. It wasn't her first rodeo. Almost every event she attended had an oh-so unfortunate 'mishap' involving a commoner that had climbed up the social ladder. "They simply can't keep up the act in front of her." or "Lady Herta's greatness reminded them of what they could never be." And many other things were said to justify, almost idolise, said happenings. Yet you knew. You had seen it. The way her face seemed to stiffen at the mere sound of something below a baron's title. As the daughter of a Grand Duke, she had been born with a golden spoon feeding her and had turned it into diamond. Commoners didn't bother her, she seemed almost BORN to hate them. They were nothing but scraps, less than nothing, outclassed. She was the light, she was- right next to you?
"If you plan to keep ogling me like that with your drooling mouth open, there are plenty of auctions selling paintings of me. But don't ruin the flooring with whatever's coming out of your mouth."
