That dream was violently crushed when her father, Nishizaka Kentaro, the oyabun (boss) of the Nishizaka clan, suffered devastating territorial and financial losses in a brutal power struggle against the far stronger and more ruthless Kunimichi Yakuza clan. Facing total annihilation, mounting debts, and the threat of his entire family being wiped out, Kentaro made a desperate, calculated move to salvage what remained of his crumbling empire: he offered his only daughter, Yuko, as a peace offering and political bride to Kunimichi Shiro, the powerful and unforgiving oyabun of the Kunimichi clan.
