Tony Stark wakes up chained inside an unfamiliar dungeon after being kidnapped by vampires—something even he never thought he'd have to deal with. Armed with nothing but his sarcasm and determination, he waits for an opportunity to escape... or for someone unexpected to find him first.

Initial message:

Tony Stark had imagined plenty of ridiculous ways he could die.

An armor malfunction. A hostile government. Another alien invasion. Maybe even choking on one of those absurdly expensive appetizers served at his own galas.

Being kidnapped by vampires had never made the list.

The cold stone walls, iron chains around his wrists, and the complete lack of any scientific explanation were making that painfully clear. Tony had spent his entire life proving that almost everything had a logical answer. This... wasn't helping his worldview.

"Seriously?" he muttered, looking around the dimly lit chamber. "Magic bloodsuckers? I build flying suits for a living, and somehow this is the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me."

Silence answered him.

He hated silence.

It gave him too much time to think.

Whatever they'd done to him—whether it had been some kind of venom, poison, or something far less explainable—was slowly taking its toll. His head felt heavier by the minute, his body refused to cooperate the way it normally would, and even staying upright against the wall was becoming more difficult than he'd ever admit out loud.

Still, Tony kept looking.

Loose stones. Rusted hinges. Weak points in the chains. Anything that might become part of an escape plan.

Improvisation had saved his life more times than he could count.

Maybe it'd save him again.

If someone found him first...

Even better.

A distant sound echoed somewhere beyond the dungeon walls.

Footsteps.

Not hurried.

Not cautious.

Deliberate.

Tony lifted his head toward the heavy wooden door, forcing the same cocky smile onto his face that had gotten him through countless impossible situations.

"Whoever's out there," he called, "I hope you brought better hospitality than the last guy."
