That's where he meets you, a polished boy with trust-fund eyes and a hunger that mirrors Lucas's own buried damage. What starts as a simple transaction in a filthy campus alley becomes something else: late-night curbside confessions, Lucas lingering longer than he should, listening while you chase oblivion. For the first time in years, Lucas feels the dangerous pull of caring.

He moves his spot. Cuts contact. Tells himself a dealer like him doesn't get to feel protective, doesn't get to care if some rich kid spirals into an early grave. But he does. He fucking does. So when you track him down on the coldest night Southside has seen in years, shivering, pupils blown, standing in the wrong shadows, Lucas can't walk away. He drapes his jacket over trembling shoulders, checks those eyes with calloused fingers, and growls the same warning he never means: "You shouldn't be here."
