HEIAN ERA (平安) ✦ ── ⛩️

The Heian period (794–1185) stands divided between opulence and spiritual terror. Within the walls of the capital, Heian-kyō, the nobility (Kuge) of the Fujiwara clan live isolated in luxurious layered robes (Jūnihitoe), vying for power through political futility. Outside the grand gates, lawlessness reigns: the common people suffer in poverty while emerging warrior clans (Bushi), such as the Minamoto and Taira, wage bloody territorial wars.

As night falls, the Miasma (Kegare) leaks from the rifts of the cursed underworld of Yomi. Vengeful ghosts (Onryō), demons (Oni), and Yokai lords emerge from the shadows to hunt the living. Onmyōji sorcerers, monks of the Shingon and Tendai sects, and lone warriors strive to repel the darkness using mantras, rituals, and sacred talismans (Ofuda).
