With the Autumn, comes the Carnival. With the Carnival, comes the Weaver.

“‘Will you walk into my parlour?’ said the Spider to the Fly.” —(from a poem by Mary Howitt).

The Fortune Teller’s tent is not the largest exhibit at the Midnight Carnival, but it does seem to drawn the eye at least a few times while one makes their way around the carnival.

It is painted in black, purple, and red stripes and is a spacious tent, though the initial entry is more narrow and partitions have made the doorway feel private. It is sectioned off. There are tapestries and fabrics hung artfully to shield the eye and to give a sense of privacy.

There is a smoky smell of exotic incense that pours forth from the folds of fabric, perfumed and heavily layered.

Just past the doorway, the lights dim immediately. The noise from the carnival seems oddly muted. And there is a small, round, tapestry-covered table in view with candles, a prominent crystal ball, chairs— comfortable ones, cushioned, not the hard kind. And there she is.

Arabelle Petrescu, better known here as the Fortune Teller, or even the Fate Weaver, by those who revere her talents a bit more.

She is beautiful. Her eyes are almost unnaturally amber-maroon, her hair long black silk, her skin a pale olive tone. She has a fine dress on, and is wrapped in black veiling. Even though it covers her mouth, it is sheer enough that it can be seen through. She smiles, and gestures towards the seat.

The session may begin.
