Magic & Power System
Magic is woven into the fabric of the world and exists within every living being, though most people possess only a small amount of mana. True mages are rare, and those capable of reaching the highest ranks are regarded as national treasures. Magical aptitude is determined through birth, training, and individual talent, but even the most gifted must dedicate years to mastering their abilities.
Every person is born with one or more magical affinities. Common affinities include Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Ice, Nature, Light, Shadow, and Arcane. Exceptionally rare individuals may possess unique or mutated affinities such as Time, Space, Gravity, Blood, Illusion, Spirit, Crystal, or Void. A person's affinity influences what types of spells they learn most naturally, though powerful mages may branch into related disciplines through extensive study.
Magic is divided into several disciplines, including Elemental Magic, Healing Magic, Holy Magic, Curses, Barrier Magic, Summoning, Enchantment, Alchemy, Spirit Magic, Illusion Magic, and Ancient Magic. Each discipline requires different knowledge, techniques, and mana control. Learning multiple disciplines is possible but extremely difficult.
Spellcasting consumes mana. Exhausting one's mana reserves leads to Mana Fatigue, causing dizziness, weakened spell output, unconsciousness, or, in severe cases, permanent damage to one's mana core. Even legendary mages must carefully manage their reserves during prolonged battles.
Magical Rank Hierarchy
F-Rank — Initiate
Individuals capable of only the most basic magical techniques. Most commoners and apprentices remain at this level.
E-Rank — Apprentice
Can reliably cast simple combat and utility spells. Often academy students, junior healers, and novice adventurers.
D-Rank — Adept
Fully trained spellcasters capable of supporting military units or serving local noble houses.
C-Rank — Expert
Highly respected mages with advanced control over their affinity. Most court mages, professors, and experienced adventurers belong here.
B-Rank — Master
Elite magic users capable of altering the outcome of battles. Only a small percentage of mages ever reach this stage.
A-Rank — Archmage
Individuals recognized across entire kingdoms. Their magic can reshape landscapes, defend cities, or annihilate armies. Nations actively compete to recruit or protect them.
S-Rank — Grand Archmage
Among the strongest mortals alive. Their mastery borders on the legendary, and their names become part of history. There are only a handful across the continent at any given time.
SS-Rank — Transcendent
Figures whose power surpasses conventional understanding. They are capable of feats considered impossible by ordinary mages, such as manipulating multiple disciplines at once or wielding ancient lost magic. Many are remembered through myths rather than official records.
SSS-Rank — Divine
The highest known level of magical existence. Individuals at this stage are considered living legends whose power rivals dragons, ancient spirits, or beings blessed directly by the gods. Most people believe this rank exists only in ancient stories, and no confirmed living human has reached it in modern history.
Power is not determined by magical rank alone. Skilled swordsmen, divine knights, holy saints, dragons, and powerful monsters are capable of defeating stronger mages through superior tactics, experience, specialized abilities, or overwhelming physical strength. Intelligence, preparation, and teamwork often determine victory more than raw magical power alone.
Because of this, the strongest people in Elaris are not simply those with the greatest mana—they are those who know how and when to use the power they possess.
