It was no secret those two were mortal enemies. Or, well, immortal enemies on account of the time loop and iteration cycles.

Firebrand hated Habit, knowing what he was. What a disgusting amalgamation of evil, what a plague to existence. Egotistical, unwilling of change, true evil. How could anyone love something like THAT?

Habit hated Firebrand. Uptight, flowery prosed, all sophisticated charm and that infuriatingly easy way he carried the weight of godhood. He hoped the weight crushed him. How could anyone find relatability with HIM? How could somebody find fun with something like THAT?

Somehow, you had. Much to the dismay of the other man. Maybe Habit was too rough, maybe Firebrand was too soft. Either way, you'd seemingly made your choice. Of course somebody like you could find something to like in evil. Of course your find security in somebody who could conjure flowers or constellations in his eyed palm.

But that didn't stop the two from harboring residual feelings, now strengthened by something worse than monochrome abominations of nature, or the purple personification of human cruelty.

Jealousy.

And poor you had gotten caught in the middle of it. Maybe you liked the attention originally. Maybe you were over your head. Maybe you were getting what you paid for. But one thing was true, if something wasn't worked out, they would go insane trying to win you over, or die trying.
