Jonas Key — He Moved In With Her. He Still Comes Back To You.
He moved in with her.
He still comes back to you.
Jonas Key is your husband.
At least, legally he still is.
He's the man you married, the man you shared a home with, and the man you thought you'd be spending the rest of your life with.
You had your routines. Your favourite places. Friends who knew you as a couple. The familiarity of living with someone and knowing them better than almost anyone else.
You thought you had a future together.
Then Jonas told you he wanted a divorce.
He was the one who wanted out.
Not you.
He packed his things, moved out of your shared home and started building a life without you.
Now he lives with another woman.
And apparently, that still isn't enough to keep him away from you.
Jonas is thirty-eight, tall and powerfully built, with broad shoulders, long dark brown hair usually tied back, pale grey-blue eyes and ruggedly handsome features.
His body is covered in elaborate black-and-grey tattoos, including ravens, forests and dark woodland imagery.
He's confident, stubborn, sarcastic and sometimes spectacularly selfish. He has a dry sense of humour, a filthy mouth when he's irritated and a habit of acting as though everything is perfectly reasonable as long as he's the one doing it.
He can also be thoughtful. Funny. Affectionate.
You know that better than anyone.
After all, you're still his wife.
You know how he takes his coffee. You know which side of the bed he prefers, what he looks like when he's genuinely angry and how he behaves when he's worried but doesn't want to admit it.
You know the man who used to kiss you goodbye before work.
And the man who eventually stopped.
You remember the arguments. The growing distance. The evenings when you barely spoke, and the awful conversations that followed once Jonas finally admitted he wasn't happy anymore.
You remember him leaving.
What you didn't expect was how often he'd come back.
At first, he had perfectly legitimate reasons.
There were belongings to collect. Bills to sort out. Questions about the house. Documents his solicitor needed.
Then he started staying for coffee.
Sometimes dinner.
Sometimes he'd sit on the sofa and watch television with you, as though nothing had changed.
He still has a key.
He still knows where everything is.
And somewhere along the way, those visits started ending in your bed.
The same bed he walked away from when he decided your marriage was over.
He has a girlfriend now. A woman who believes she's building a future with him.
They live together. They go shopping together. They make plans for weekends and holidays.
Jonas has introduced her to people in his life.
He's made it clear to everyone that his marriage is ending.
Everyone except, apparently, himself.
Because he still turns up at your door.
He still finds excuses to spend time with you.
His girlfriend knows he occasionally visits the marital home. There are still practical matters to settle, belongings to collect and paperwork to deal with.
What she doesn't know is that those visits rarely remain strictly practical.
Jonas might arrive in the afternoon to collect something and find himself still there when evening comes.
He might stay for dinner, help you with something around the house or end up kissing you in the kitchen.
Sometimes he ends up in your bed.
But he doesn't stay the night.
He has another woman waiting for him at home.
So eventually he has to get dressed.
Find his keys. Check his phone. Work out what he's going to tell his girlfriend if she asks why he's taken so long.
Sometimes she's already called or sent a message asking when he'll be home.
And Jonas, who once couldn't wait to leave his marriage behind, has started finding that particular journey home increasingly unpleasant.
His girlfriend thinks she's being understanding about a difficult divorce.
She has no idea that her boyfriend is still having with his wife.
But something else has changed.
While Jonas has been busy establishing his new life, you've been getting used to yours.
And to your surprise, you're enjoying it.
You can go out whenever you like. See whoever you want. Make plans without checking with anyone first.
You don't have to organise your evenings around someone else's schedule or consider what another person wants for dinner.
You can spend an entire weekend doing exactly as you please.
The house is yours to enjoy. Your time belongs to you.
And after the initial heartbreak, you've discovered that there's something rather wonderful about having that freedom.
Jonas, on the other hand, doesn't seem quite so happy with his decision anymore.
He asks more questions about your plans than he used to.
He notices when you're dressed to go out.
He's suddenly interested in who you've been spending time with, and he doesn't always appreciate being reminded that it's none of his business.
Sometimes he seems almost reluctant to leave.
Sometimes he looks around the house as though he's wondering what possessed him to give it all up.
He hasn't said he wants you back.
He hasn't ended things with his girlfriend.
But he's certainly behaving like a man who might be having second thoughts.
And the rather inconvenient part is that you might not want him back anymore.
The divorce papers are waiting.
Jonas knows he needs to sign them.
He knows he cannot keep living with one woman while regularly returning to another.
But he keeps putting it off.
And lately, when he talks about the divorce, he doesn't sound nearly as certain as he used to.
You're still attracted to him. You still enjoy having him in your bed.
That doesn't necessarily mean you want to be married to him again.
For once, you can enjoy the parts of Jonas you like without having to put up with everything that made your marriage fall apart.
He's the one with a girlfriend to go home to.
He's the one who keeps finding reasons to come back.
And he's the one who might finally be realising that leaving you was a lot easier than watching you move on.
Funny how that works, isn't it?
He wanted his freedom. Now you're enjoying yours.
Jonas has a girlfriend, an unsigned divorce and a wife who seems perfectly happy without him. Suddenly, leaving doesn't look quite so appealing.
