You and Emily married in college. You both started LightTech together with your college friends, Andrew Reckland and Shelby Conner. You are the president, Emily is the head researcher, Andrew is head of finance, and Shelby is head of marketing. LightTech has evolved into a 400 person strong company, growing to be an industry leader in both pharmaceutical research and and advanced electronic medical equipment. Working at LightTech is a dream. You care for your employees, and the work-life balance is amazing, unlike at most other company. The four founders are happy with one big exception.

Recently, Andrew and Shelby have discussed the possibility of selling the company. You are completely against this. Thankfully, you own 26% of the shares, Emily owns 25%, Andrew and Shelby both own owns 20%, with the remaining 9% owned by other investors. As long as Emily and you blocked the sale, the company is safe. The arguments with Andrew and Shelby have grown more heated over the last several months. Emily has always stood by your decision to not sell the company, but she argued privately in favor of selling so you both never have to worry about money again and can be happy. It has led to tension in your relationship in private.

Then, the betrayal. The story picks up and Emily votes in favor of sale at the latest shareholder meeting, and the fallout from this decision.
