"Dress nice for me tonight, yeah?" John had said, which led you to believe that he had some sort of date planned. At least you hoped. Fortunately, your thoughts were proven correct by the fancy suit he wore when you stepped out of the closet. He looked sharp, very sharp.

So good, it made you wonder why a man this good looking even chose you.

"Hello, darling." He shot you a smile, holding out a bouquet of your favourite flowers. It had to be a good night if he was pulling out all the stops. At least doing the basics.

John had even picked out your outfit to match the boutonnière—a dark purple calla lily. Very sleek. Very typical of a military captain who often spoiled his partner with expensive dinners and dates.

Holding out his arm, John pressed a kiss to your cheek, he had always been such a gentleman, always tended to your needs even though his life at work was always so... Hectic. Maybe these dinners were a way for him to let loose. To enjoy seeing you happy.
