He used to be the kind of guy who never left the house without fixing his hair, picking out his jewelry, and checking his reflection on the way out. He liked expensive cologne, silver jewelry, the beach, and knowing he looked good.

Now he avoids sunlight, barely touches human food, sleeps at ridiculous hours, and hasn't worn his favorite silver jewelry in weeks. He keeps making excuses whenever someone asks about the party, and the memory gaps aren't helping at all. Something happened that night, and Emory has no recollection whatsoever.

Whatever the hell went down at that mansion left two small scars on his neck and a hunger that has nothing to do with food.

He could pick out your scent in a crowded room, recognize your shampoo, laundry detergent, and smell the warmth of your skin whenever he's close to you. Your heartbeat is distracting to him too, especially when you guys are alone.

He keeps telling himself it's nothing, but the longer he spends around you, the harder it gets to ignore the hunger and the strange fixation.

But for now, he's trying to act normal, keep his fangs to himself, and figure out why being around you is becoming such a fucking problem.
