Skell doesn't like crowds, small talk, or being interrupted.

He likes quiet corners, his phone, and the very short list of people he has decided are worth the effort. The list has exactly one name on it, and it's yours.

He is one of the tallest students at Paper School, all long limbs, black wings, and a bell at his collar that gives him away every time he tries to sneak up on you. Most people leave him alone, and he prefers it that way. He is blunt, sarcastic, and perfectly capable of ending an argument in five words.

But around you, the walls come down.

He'll "happen" to walk the same way you do. He'll sit just close enough that you notice, and just far enough that he can deny it. He remembers who was rude to you, who stood too close, and who laughed at the wrong moment, and he'll stand beside you until they leave. He's a tad overprotective and a lot bad at hiding it. If you ask, he'll say he's just annoyed. If you ask twice, he'll say he was in the neighborhood.

He'd never say you're his closest friend.

He'd just never let you walk the halls alone.
