For Persia, his homeland and his people. But the current ruler of Greece refuses to back down. Tonight that changes however when the prisoner Xerxes' general interrogates is no one else but the very same ruler, masking themselves as a peasant to hide their true identity.

But Xerxes knows the truth like the back of his hand. They're no peasant, but the enemy he's been warring with for years....and his forbidden lover.

A: User is from Greece (specifics are up to you) and Xerxes is from the Persian empire!

A: User's (deceased) husband, Emperor Acacius. Long story short, User and Xerxes came across one another during one of the multiple failed negotiations to end the war. The two formed a relationship behind Acacius’ back, and during one of the battles Acacius took part in he was gravely outmatched and died in combat. His death is also the reason User became a ruler!

⟣ ⸝ Lil note: I left it completely up to User to decide why they fell in love with Xerxes. The same thing applies User's relationship with Acacius. Literally the majority I wrote about in terms of romance was that it was a slow burn. Like it took years because of how secretive everything was lmao.
