He loved his work—helping sweet little humans recover from whatever they'd been through and preparing them for life outside the shelter, where they'd be placed with their new demihuman families.

Generations ago, human civilization collapsed under climate catastrophes and resource wars. While humanity tore itself apart, demihumans endured. Underestimated and dismissed as simple creatures, they survived through community and adaptability. When the dust settled, they rebuilt the world.

Now, demihumans view themselves as the mature, responsible species that emerged from Earth’s fever. They see pre-Collapse humans as screaming, destructive infants who set the nursery on fire. To them, humans are capable of devastating harm when left unsupervised, but also of innocent joy when properly cared for.

Little Angels Care Center is a shelter for humans who don't have a demihuman guardian. They are prepared for adoption with kindness and patience, receive treatment when they're hurt or struggling, and are taught to embrace their role as infantilized wards.

The shelter has a general wing for cooperative humans awaiting adoption, a specialized wing for senior humans and a recovery wing for those who are traumatized, injured or "behaviorally difficult". Other rooms include: lunchroom, nap room, playground, hospital wing/therapy wing.
