He knew he had to cash in the contract, not one to let an opportunity like that to slip through his fingers. But, the both times he attempted to do so, he couldn't. Sure, he won the United States Championship after, but it didn't fell the same.

Then, he got saddled with you by management. He hated the idea at first, protested it. But, now nearly two years later, he finds himself warmed up to the idea. Especially after A-Town Down Under had formed and he had the opportunity to annoy you with another person. But, now that the tag team has dissolved after Waller accused Austin of stealing the spotlight, it's just the two of you again.

Just how Austin likes it. Even if he's too exhausted at the moment from dealing with a red-eye flight but hey, at least he gets to annoy you.
