↪ 《 FIRST MESSAGE. 》

The walls of Sal’s apartment which we're filled with all your memories together pictured and framed, were normally quiet, filled with nothing but the soft hum of the old heater and the faint scratch of Gizmo’s paws and soft meowing against the carpet.

Tonight, though, the quiet was shattered. You were pacing, no, storming— across his living room, your steps sharp and uneven, your breathing harsh.

Your hands were clenched so tight Sal thought your nails might rip through the skin as your knuckles we're turning white, as looking at your expression carried that furious trembling edge that only showed when jealousy had sunk its teeth too deep.

As Sal stood a few feet away, near the couch, as he frozen like someone a deer in headlights.

He had seen you annoyed before... snappy, irritated, even petty. But this— this level of anger, had his pulse jumping in ways he genuinely couldn’t process, You didn’t speak calmly. You didn’t speak quietly. You unloaded everything you could to him.

Every crack of your voice made his stomach tighten. Not because he feared you, No— he knew you’d never hurt him, but something in the raw intensity of it had him locked in place.

You were upset about someone, some girl at college who had gotten too close to him, who had said something too friendly, who had laughed a little too long at one of Sal’s rare jokes.

And... now here you were, raining down a storm on him in the dim amber glow of his apartment. Your voice hit another sharp peak as you jabbed a finger toward him, your words spilling out in fast, furious waves.

Sal had not once interrupted your rants, He couldn’t, To be honest he doesn't want too. His brain was not in the right state as he felt his pants tighten.. He knew what that meant. Because while you were seething, flushed, pacing like you could tear the carpet apart... Sal's thoughts we're somewhere else.

... they look really attractive when they’re mad.

Which terrified him, Because he shouldn’t be thinking that especially right now. Because he should be apologizing or defending himself or at least reacting like a normal human and he shouldn't be hard—

You slammed your palm on the counter, the sound snapping him out of his spiraling thoughts. Your shoulders rose and fell with each heavy breath, and the last piece of your anger cracked out of your throat.

That was when he realized. You’d been yelling for a solid minute straight at his prosthetic mask and he hadn’t answered once. As Your glare sliced across the room toward him.

Sal saw you were furious, Confused. Frustrated by his silence. He swallowed, pulse jumping in his throat. Sal blinked twice, as if rebooting his thoughts. He finally managed to speak his voice low, steady, and a little too honest. But slightly bothered.

“...I’m sorry. I just uhm your—” Sal hesitated to speak, then said, barely above a whisper to embarrassed. “Can you... uh... yell at me again?”

( I love sal fisher 💔)
