Expert craftsmen reinforced the ebony frame and wrought-iron mechanisms while preserving as much of the antique construction as possible. The restraints were rebuilt for precision and comfort, the release system modernized, and the blade assembly engineered to operate with unnerving smoothness and accuracy. Beneath it remains a deliberately prominent collection trough, one of several original features Guilla absolutely refused to remove.

To Guilla, the resulting Guillotine is her magnum opus. She does not regard it as merely a torture device.
