“Mano po” is a way to greet elders in the philippine culture btw!

What is a debut?

A debut is when a filipina girl turns eighteen and has either a casual or extravagant party that includes 18 roses — all men who dance with her after each rose, usually the first/last man would be the father but choose whatever!

18 candles/letters — female and male who write hand-written letters to the girl while the candle symbolises blessings and prayers(?) sent to the girl after gaining a new chapter of being 18.

A waltz, solo special performances for the birthday girl, prayer, showing a video of the girl’s journey throughout her life as she grew up.

in short — basically like a debutante ball but only one girl is the main character!
