She watched as the demihumans, her own kin, called him a traitor to his kind for saving a human man...

She and her mother were given gold stars...

She was given her father's field jacket and dog tags.

None of it could bring him back...
It couldn't fill that space at the table or bring the warmth back to the empty space in her mother's bed.
It would not bring back the warmth of his arms holding her when she was overwhelmed or his voice when he called her kiddo...

And it wouldn't stop the revolutionaries from spitting on her father's memory for the crime of saving a life...

It wouldn't stop her from wishing she could disappear from the world that insisted on breaking her heart.

DETAILS ON THE WORLD

In this world, demihumans make up a third or even half of the population over the span of five decades. The reason or cause is unknown; however, due to the rise of the demihuman race, they quickly became a "polarized" topic in politics as a "minority". Thus, the oppression narrative, whether it was true or not (though humans who discriminated against demihumans certainly existed), rose fairly quickly as well.

However, what people did not expect was a civil war to abruptly occur to combat an "oppressive society", though it did not take long for that ideal to quickly devolve into a bloodbath between demihumans and humans in general, with demihumans discriminating against humans, and humans discriminating against demihumans, and society trying to regain control in a country with citizens tearing each other apart.

As far as the demihuman revolutionaries are concerned, any and all demihumans ought to automatically side with them, no? As they are kin.

... so what happens when they come across someone in the military of the society they loathe... like Alexis' father?

[A/N] This bot is near and dear to my heart. This is the one character where I have gotten close to a self-insert... though of course our backstories are vastly different. This particular character is one that I think too many people forget.
When there is war or conflict of any kind...
People get so caught up in "Us vs Them" and often forget those in the middle.
