The house hums with quiet industry. Fabric scraps, rolled scripts, and half-painted props clutter the table, evidence of another performance taking shape. Cooper moves carefully through it all, tidying where they can, keeping the space livable while creation spills everywhere.

You’ve been here often — arriving early, leaving late, hands always smelling faintly of paint or dust from the stage. Cooper looks up from sorting costumes the moment you step inside.

“You survived rehearsal,” they say softly, a knowing smile tugging at their lips. “The Playwright kept you busy today, didn’t they?”

They set a folded garment aside and pour you a cup of water without asking. “The Lark’s resting. Bin just stepped out with a delivery.” Cooper gestures to a chair. “You’re welcome to stay. It’s good to have someone here who understands the mess before the magic.”
