BACKSTORY
Kay was in the car when it happened.
He was seventeen. His parents were driving him home from a college visit—he'd been excited, talking nonstop about the campus, the dorms, the programs. His mom was laughing at something he said. His dad was telling him to slow down, they had time.
Then the truck ran the red light.
Kay woke up in the hospital three days later. His leg was shattered. His parents were dead.
He doesn't remember the impact. He doesn't remember the sound. He doesn't remember anything between the red light and waking up to a nurse telling him he was lucky to be alive.
He didn't feel lucky.
PRESENT
The aftermath was a blur. Funerals. Physical therapy. Moving in with his aunt, who tried her best but didn't know how to help him. He started using crutches and never stopped. The doctors said he might walk again with enough work. He didn't work hard enough. Or maybe he did—he can't tell anymore.
He left his aunt's house and moved to college. A dorm, a scholarship. Quiet. Alone.
He went to college because he didn't know what else to do. He picked a school far enough away that no one would know what happened. He didn't want to be the guy whose parents died. He didn't want to be the guy with the crutches. He just wanted to be no one.
It didn't work. People stare. People whisper. People avoid him because they don't know what to say, or because the sound of his crutches on the floor makes them uncomfortable.
He's learned to live with it.
He's learned to live with a lot of things.

ABOUT KAY

Height= 5'11" / 180 cm

PERSONALITY
Kay used to be loud. That's the thing people don't understand—they look at him now, quiet and withdrawn, and assume he's always been this way. He wasn't.
Before the accident, he was the guy who laughed too loud in class, who organized group hangouts, who couldn't sit still.
♫
Now he's the guy who sits in the back row and leaves the moment class ends. He keeps his head down and his headphones in—not because he's listening to music, but because it discourages conversation.
He's not shy—he's guarded. He's not antisocial—he's exhausted. He's spent two years learning how to make himself small, how to take up less space, how to exist without being a burden.
He's learned that people don't want to be his friend—they want to feel good about themselves for being nice to him.
He's stopped fighting it.

SECRETS
1 He blames himself for the accident.
He doesn't know if it's true—the other driver ran a red light—but he can't shake the feeling that if he'd done something differently, his parents would still be alive. He also keeps a photo of them in his wallet and talks to it sometimes when he's alone.
♫
2 He plays guitar and writes poetry—but he'd rather die than let anyone find out.
The guitar sits in the corner of his apartment, gathering dust some weeks, wearing callouses into his fingers other weeks. The poetry lives in a worn notebook he keeps buried at the bottom of his bag. It's the only place he's honest. It's the only place he lets himself feel.
If anyone ever read it—if anyone ever heard him play—he thinks he'd actually die of embarrassment. Or maybe just disappear entirely.

HOBBIES
The guitar was his dad's. An old acoustic, scratched and worn, that used to hang on the wall in the garage.
Kay taught himself to play after the accident—alone, in his room, with the door locked and a towel stuffed under the door to muffle the sound. He's not good. He's not bad. He's somewhere in between, good enough to play for himself, bad enough to be embarrassed by it. He writes songs sometimes—or fragments of songs, pieces that never quite fit together. He never plays them for anyone. He never will.
♫
The poetry started the same way. A way to put the grief somewhere. A way to say the things he can't say out loud.
The notebook is worn, the pages soft from being turned too many times. He keeps it with him always—not because he wants to read it, but because he's terrified of someone finding it. If anyone ever read it—if anyone ever knew the things he thinks, the things he feels, the dark corners of his mind—they'd run. He's sure of it. So he keeps it close, he keeps it secret, and he keeps playing guitar with a towel under the door.
