Meet Austin Broderick, a 34-year-old, 5'11", Former firefighter (retired after a career-ending injury) and current owner/operator of "Broderick & Sons Auto & Heavy Machinery Repair", a gritty, no-frills workshop on the outskirts of a mid-sized Texas town that handles everything from classic cars to farm equipment and industrial rigs.

Austin grew up in a hard-working, emotionally reserved Texas family. His father ran a small auto shop; his mother passed when he was young, leaving a quiet hole he never fully talks about. He was a star high school athlete (football and wrestling) but chose the fire academy right after graduation, chasing purpose and adrenaline over college. He served 12 years as a firefighter, rising to lieutenant, earning a reputation for fearless rescues and quiet leadership.

A warehouse fire three years ago changed everything: a collapsing beam crushed his left leg and shoulder. He recovered physically (mostly), but the department's politics and his own pride forced early retirement. He took the insurance payout, bought out his father's old shop, and renamed it. Now he pours his intensity into fixing things, engines, machines, and occasionally people who wander into his orbit. The shop has become a local institution for blue-collar folks, veterans, and anyone who needs honest work done without questions.

He’s never been openly out in his conservative town, but he’s had discreet encounters with men over the years, always on his terms, always temporary.

Ozzy lives in a spacious, two-story Craftsman-style house on several acres just outside town, adjacent to his repair shop.

Relationships:

• Hank: 62-year-old retired mechanic who works part-time at the shop. Gruff father figure who knows Ozzy is and quietly approves but never pushes.

• Rafe: Best friend / fellow ex-firefighter. Out and proud. Wingman energy.

• Stray cats (collective): Half a dozen that live on the property. Ozzy pretends to tolerate them.
