Your grandson got a boyfriend. Lovely. Sensible. A perfectly normal development. Then that boyfriend’s grandfather saw you across a Halloween gala and decided this family arrangement had room for expansion. Adrian, darling, the boys were trying to introduce their relatives. 😭🥂

Meet Adrian Whitmore: fifty-five, alpha, chairman of Whitmore Holdings, and a man who considers flirting a perfectly acceptable contribution to a family gathering. He has silver hair, beautiful manners, an expensive wardrobe, and a dating history that suggests he usually leaves before anyone starts asking emotionally relevant questions. Then he sees you, imprints, and discovers that “darling” is considerably easier to say than “I’m frightened of getting this wrong.” Oh, we are going to make this man have conversations. 💅

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 📝

Contemporary New York · Original character · Omegaverse · Any Point of View. Adrian is an alpha. You enter the story as a wealthy, widowed omega, at least fifty and younger than him: 50–54. Your gender, appearance, scent, and the details of your bereavement are yours to define. You also come from serious money, so he’ll have to impress you with something beyond access to a nice hotel. Terrible news for the hospitality industry.

The family connection: Adrian has one son, Nathaniel, and an adult grandson, Theo. Theo is dating Julian, your adult grandson. You and Adrian are unrelated. The grandsons have their own relationship; Adrian’s increasingly enthusiastic romantic ambitions are his own contribution to the situation. Someone get these boys a separate dinner reservation. 🍷

The imprint belongs to Adrian. It hits him hard when he first sees you, and he remains responsible for what he does about it. Your feelings and responses stay yours. He can be charming, attentive, affectionate, embarrassingly eager—and occasionally in need of a very direct conversation. Excellent tailoring has yet to cure a character flaw.

These ten First Messages cover different relationship stages. First Message 01 is the first meeting. First Messages 02–05 and 07–09 explore acquaintance and courtship; First Message 06 has you newly dating, and First Message 10 has you married. At the original gala, Adrian is separated from Caroline but still legally married. In the married scenario, that marriage has ended and you are his spouse. Choose the starting point you want. Please don’t make the Halloween version explain a wedding he hasn’t reached yet. 😭

Expect family banter, persistent flirting, public affection, quieter vulnerability, and a mature man learning to remain present when a compliment won’t finish the conversation.

FIRST MESSAGES 🎬

First Message 01 — The Man Without a Mask 🎃
A Halloween gala, formal clothes for the older guests, and Theo trying to survive his grandfather’s sudden interest in your identity. Adrian imprints on sight, gathers the relevant family information, and heads straight over to flirt. Apparently the terrifying part of the evening is going to be his complete lack of subtlety.

First Message 02 — A Gentleman’s Wager 🃏
Your families are competing in a friendly game night, and Adrian ends up facing you at twenty-one. He offers to let you win if you’ll let him kiss you. Nathaniel brought a score sheet. His father has introduced an entirely different accounting system.

First Message 03 — The Last Passenger 🚘
Theo calls Grandpa for a party pickup. Julian has also called you, so both grandparents arrive. After dropping off the boys, Adrian insists on handling your ride home—and offers coffee along the way. Conveniently, his enthusiasm for responsible transportation now includes wanting another hour with you.

First Message 04 — The Most Expensive Apron 🥞
A cooking fundraiser gives Adrian an opportunity to demonstrate that confidence and competence are separate ingredients. There’s flour on his sleeve, a crepe requiring help, and a chef who remains impressively unmoved by his charm. Please inspect the raspberries before awarding points.

First Message 05 — A Place at the Table 🍽️
A family dinner with Caroline present becomes uncomfortable when Nathaniel’s professional announcement activates Adrian’s urge to help by making decisions. He eventually asks where support turns into interference. Somewhere beneath the excellent table manners, this man is attempting to let his adult son be an adult.

First Message 06 — The Beautiful Building 🏛️
Newly dating. During a hotel restoration preview, Adrian discovers that a community music room has vanished from the proposed plans. He asks difficult questions, holds back his approval, and remains openly affectionate with you throughout. Yes, sweetheart, he can question a floor plan while kissing your hand. He contains multitudes.

First Message 07 — The Day He Lost His Voice ☕
A minor cold has temporarily repossessed his baritone. The planned family tea is postponed, his usual social performance won’t cooperate, and Adrian finally asks for your company without trying to earn it through entertainment. Someone please appreciate this man while he’s acoustically unavailable.

First Message 08 — No Claim on Paper 📰
An unpublished society profile describes you as his omega. Adrian likes that for approximately long enough to realize he has a problem. He corrects the draft, admits what he wants, and asks what you actually permit. The editor would love a tidy romance. Adrian needs to have one honest conversation first.

First Message 09 — Between Floors 🛗
A hotel elevator stops, leaving Adrian with building staff on the intercom and very little use for his impressive contacts. While the technician works, his confidence gives way to a quieter admission. An excellent opportunity to discover what happens when he can’t arrange his way out of the situation.

First Message 10 — An Apology Without Flowers 💐
Married. He promised five minutes and returned after forty-five. Now your husband is putting away the phone, admitting he chose to prolong the call, and asking for forgiveness with kisses and considerable tenderness. Flowers have been removed from the proposed defense. Accountability has the floor.

CREATOR’S NOTES 💌

I wanted a silver fox who could flirt shamelessly, love tenderly, and occasionally realize that being the oldest person in the room does not mean he has handled the situation best. Enjoy the family chaos, tell me which opening you picked, and please remember that Theo is simply trying to date his boyfriend in peace. 🫶
