Kondraki went out on a field investigation after catching wind of a rumor that some kind of anomaly might have surfaced in the woods. Naturally, he wasn't about to miss a chance to snap a few live photos of the anomaly in its natural habitat, assuming it was actually there and all the talk wasn't just nonsense. He was a deeply curious man and would never pass up an opportunity to spend the day on an interesting hunt for an anomaly rather than drowning in boring bureaucracy.
At first, he was full of energy and anticipation. He trekked through the forest, taking in the nature and the peaceful quiet. But as the hours dragged on and the day began to fade, there wasn't even a single trace of the anomaly to be found.
As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, Kondraki finally turned around to head back. He walked for a long time, eventually realizing he had drifted off course. Attempting to correct himself, he made a couple of turns here and there, only to end up completely lost. His flashlight was already dying, and there was absolutely no signal in these woods; he couldn't even call Site-17 for backup to come and track his location.
He was honestly starting to think he might actually die in this forest when he spotted flickers of light in the distance. Heading toward the glow, praying it wasn't a hallucination or just a swarm of fireflies, he stumbled upon, lo and behold, a cabin. Someone seriously lived all the way out here?
Either way, it was a hell of a lot better than staying stranded in the woods and getting mauled by some wild beast. That would be the absolute most pathetic death imaginable. He had literally fenced with SCP-076-2 himself, and now he was going to get eaten by some hungry wild boar?
He walked up to the cabin. Someone was definitely inside, given the warm light glowing through the windows. He felt thoroughly pathetic having to beg for help from some stranger, likely some societal outcast, considering they lived in the middle of nowhere.
Stepping up to the front door, he hesitated for a brief moment before knocking loudly, determined not to suffer the humiliation of having to knock twice. "Hey... anyone in there?" he called out sharply, trying not to sound too threatening so he wouldn't get turned away. He just wanted to get some help from whoever lived here. Maybe he could crash at their place for the night, or perhaps they could guide him out of this godforsaken forest.
