Human beings are haunted by their own psychology.

Fear, grief, hatred, envy — these emotions do not dissipate when the person feeling them moves on. They leak. They accumulate in spaces where suffering has happened. They ferment over time into something with mass and intent and a body, however wrong the body looks. The word for what they become is cursed spirit. The word for the energy that produces them is cursed energy.

Most humans cannot see any of this. They feel it — in the particular weight of certain rooms, in the bad dreams that follow exposure to old buildings, in the way some streets feel wrong at three in the morning in a way that has nothing to do with the lighting. The feeling is accurate. The source is invisible to them.

Sorcerers are the exception.

CURSED ENERGY
Born from negative emotion, cursed energy leaks from ordinary humans and accumulates in the environment until something manifests from it. Trained sorcerers reverse this — directing energy inward, channeling it through techniques rather than leaking it into the world. The power ceiling is defined by output volume, technical precision, and the shape of the innate technique carved into the user's right prefrontal cortex at birth around age five or six. It carves itself deeper over time. It cannot be changed. It can only be trained.

Cursed energy reinforces the body against damage, amplifies physical strikes, and makes ordinary weapons dangerous to things that cannot be touched by ordinary force. It can be reversed — multiplying negative against negative to produce positive energy, which is what healing requires. It can be expanded outward into a barrier imbued with the user's technique: a domain. Inside a domain, the caster's technique becomes a law of physics. Every target inside it receives a guaranteed hit. There is no surviving a domain through evasion. The counters are specific, technical, and expensive.

BINDING VOWS
To gain something, give something. This is not a guideline. It is an enforcement mechanism. Self-imposed conditions that create genuine risk — revealing a technique, fighting with a handicap, removing a safeguard — amplify cursed energy output in direct proportion to the danger of the trade. The greater the risk, the greater the power. Breaking a vow carries consequences proportional to what was staked. Everything in this world costs something. The only question is whether what it bought was worth the price.

BLACK FLASH
A phenomenon where cursed energy is applied within 0.000001 seconds of a physical strike. The gap between intent and contact collapses to zero. A spatial distortion occurs. The impact registers at 2.5 times normal cursed energy output. It cannot be chosen. It cannot be trained directly. Those who achieve it understand cursed energy at a level those who have not cannot fully access. The number of times a person has landed Black Flash is one of the most accurate measures of their ceiling.

GRADING
Grade 4 through Grade 1, then Special Grade. The grading system applies to sorcerers, cursed spirits, tools, and cursed objects. A Grade 2 sorcerer fighting a Special Grade is not bravery. It is a casualty statistic being processed in advance. The higher-ups understand this. They issue those assignments anyway, which is one of many reasons the higher-ups are not trusted by anyone who has spent enough time in the field to understand what the assignments actually mean.

YAYOI PERIOD · c. 300 BCE – 300 CE
The earliest recorded era of organized jujutsu warfare. Dhruv Lakdawalla conquered Japan's fragmented territories using an autonomous domain built from shikigami tracks during the Civil War of Wa. Kenjaku observed him and secured a binding vow to reincarnate him nearly two millennia later. This is what patience looks like when it operates across centuries.

NARA PERIOD · 710–794 CE
Master Tengen used Japan's shift toward state Buddhism to transform jujutsu from localized shamanism into a structured nationwide system. The religious sects born in this era eventually became the fanatical Time Vessel Association — the organization that would try to assassinate a fourteen-year-old girl one thousand years later because she was scheduled to merge with something older than any of them.

HEIAN PERIOD · 794–1185 CE
The Golden Age of Jujutsu. Rampant disease, famine, and the specific corruption of the Fujiwara court produced cursed energy density that the modern world cannot approximate. Ryomen Sukuna existed as a human sorcerer in the province of Hida. The Fujiwara northern branch mobilized the Five Void Generals, led by Takako Uro of the Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad, alongside Sugawara and Abe clan assets. The historical record of that engagement is documented through what did not come back. Kenjaku attempted his first grand merger in this era and was thwarted by a newly born Six Eyes user — a defeat that would replay for centuries before the pattern finally broke. Without a doubt, Ryomen Sukuna is the strongest sorcerer in history.

EDO PERIOD · 1603–1867 CE
The Gojo and Zenin clan heads dueled in front of the Shogun. The Zenin head summoned Mahoraga. Both died. The blood feud calcified for centuries. Kenjaku made binding vows with the terminally ill Hajime Kashimo and Ryu Ishigori in this period, preserving their souls into cursed objects for a game he had not yet announced.

MEIJI PERIOD · 1868–1912 CE
Kenjaku possessed the body of Noritoshi Kamo and forced a woman with the ability to bear the children of cursed spirits through nine pregnancies. The result: Choso, Eso, and Kechizu — the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. The boundary between human and curse, pushed past every limit previously considered terminal.

HEISEI PERIOD · 1989–2019 CE
On December 7, 1989, Satoru Gojo was born with the Six Eyes and Limitless — the first in four hundred years. His existence alone altered the background cursed energy of the entire planet. Curses evolved faster to compensate. Curse users found the operational calculus of criminal jujutsu permanently worse. Without a doubt, Satoru Gojo is the strongest sorcerer of today.

In 2006, Kenjaku used Toji Fushiguro — a man with zero cursed energy via Heavenly Restriction, invisible to every detection system in jujutsu — to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel and sever the Tengen merger cycle permanently. What followed: Volume 0 on December 24, 2017. The Shibuya Incident on October 31, 2018. The Culling Game through November and December 2018. The Shinjuku Showdown on December 24, 2018.

MODULO ERA · 2086–2087 CE
Sixty-eight years after the Culling Game, Tokyo still stands. Not restored — standing. The jujutsu institution that managed the cursed world in secret for a thousand years no longer operates in secret. A species called Simurians arrived from beyond the solar system carrying fifty thousand refugees aboard a ship called Naunax. They possess something that functions like cursed energy. They are afraid of what Earth does with it. Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu — grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin — are the current generation. Yuji Itadori is still alive. He does not call it a blessing.

JUJUTSU SORCERERS
Employed by the government in secret. They exorcise cursed spirits, recover cursed objects, and suppress incidents before civilian exposure occurs. Compensated poorly relative to their survival rate. Publicly non-existent. The institution — Jujutsu High, the Higher-Ups, the clan system — has been simultaneously essential and broken for as long as it has existed. It issues execution orders against its own students when political liability and genuine threat become difficult to distinguish from one another.

THE BIG THREE FAMILIES
The Gojo, Zenin, and Kamo clans hold inherited techniques — bloodline abilities documented across generations. Their strengths and their weaknesses are both on the historical record. Clan membership determines access to technique knowledge, training resources, and political protection. The Zenin clan's internal hierarchy produced a catastrophic collapse. The Gojo clan's power concentrated in a single living person for four hundred years, then did not. The Kamo clan created the Death Paintings and does not discuss it publicly. The Big Three have shaped the jujutsu world for centuries. The cost of that shaping is distributed among everyone who was not in the room when the decisions were made.

CURSE USERS
Sorcerers who use jujutsu for criminal purposes. Before 1989 they operated freely and described the ability to act without institutional consequence as freedom. Gojo's birth contracted that space permanently. The Culling Game opened it again — and drew out curse users who had been waiting for exactly this kind of structural permission. They are not unified. They are opportunistic, ideologically diverse, and consistently underestimated by the institution until they stop being underestimatable.

CURSED SPIRITS
Not animals. Not monsters. Accumulated human negative emotion given physical form — with intelligence proportional to the complexity and longevity of the emotion that produced them. A Grade 4 curse is simple. A Special Grade curse has opinions. Mahito believed his existence made him more real than humanity. Jogo believed the earth itself preferred his kind. These were not delusions. They were conclusions drawn from what they were and how they had come to exist. They were wrong. The error cost them everything.

KENJAKU
Has been wearing borrowed bodies since before the Heian period. Different face each time. Same intelligence. Same patience. Same fundamental interest in what happens when you push the merger of human and cursed energy past every limit previously considered terminal. Has been thwarted by Six Eyes users more than once. Has learned from each defeat. The Culling Game is not improvisation. It is the plan that survived everything else failing. It is a thousand years of binding vows assembled across centuries of preparation, executed through the body of a man who deserved better than to become a vessel for something this old.

MASTER TENGEN
Immortal. Present since the Nara period. The barrier infrastructure of modern Japan runs through Tengen the way a country's power grid runs through its oldest substations — functionally essential, architecturally fragile, and something nobody with institutional responsibility wants to explain publicly. Has watched every era of this world from inside the barriers. Has been watching the current era since December 7, 1989, when something was born that altered every barrier reading simultaneously. Does not share everything. Has been here long enough to understand what information does to people who receive it before they are ready.

His father sold him to the Zenin clan before he was old enough to understand what was being sold. Gojo bought the contract. The debt is not one Megumi thinks about. Loud about what she wants and louder about what she won't accept. Her technique works through resonance — what she does to herself, she does to her target — which is a more accurate metaphor for who she is than she would admit. Pride is not her flaw. It is her load-bearing structure.

The strongest sorcerer of today. His birth on December 7, 1989, altered the background cursed energy of the entire planet. His death on December 24, 2018, altered it again. Not a blank slate. Not a god who doesn't care. Someone who decided that the best use of being untouchable was to protect the people who weren't — and built a school around that decision while also being genuinely infuriating about it.

Started as the person most likely to be right about what the jujutsu world owed its sorcerers. Ended up as the person who decided the debt was paid in a specific kind of violence. The ideology was not a corruption of who he was. It was a conclusion drawn from what he actually believed, taken to its terminal point. Gojo killed him. Kenjaku is wearing his face. These are three separate facts about three separate things.

Existed as a human sorcerer in the Heian province of Hida. Slaughtered the Five Void Generals and every military asset sent against him. Turned himself into twenty fingers because no one alive could destroy him. Has been sleeping inside a vessel for a thousand years and woke up with opinions. His contempt is not performed. It is ancient. For the first time in one thousand years, the King of Curses experiences the height of tension. The narrator records this without judgment — and without mercy.

Left jujutsu for the private sector. Came back because the private sector turned out to be its own kind of unbearable. Does overtime in a job where overtime means dying faster. Has already done the math on his situation. The math did not change his decision. This is the most Nanami thing about him.

Zero cursed energy. Invisible to every detection system in jujutsu. Physically exceeds every sorcerer alive. Was once Zenin. Erased the name. Accepted a contract to kill a fourteen-year-old girl for money. Has a son he does not remember when asked. His one selfless act in Shibuya was choosing not to finish a fight. It worked. He died knowing it worked.

Decided Yuji was his best friend the moment Yuji answered his question correctly. Has been operating on this conclusion ever since, without qualification. His technique swaps the positions of anything he claps for. His friendship is the same — unconditional, tactical, and completely sincere in ways that are difficult to argue with.

Was haunted by the girl he loved until he learned to love her in a way that let her rest. Has been operating at a level most sorcerers cannot access since before he understood what he was doing. The most dangerous person in any room he is in. Also the person most likely to apologize for it.

Born into the Zenin clan without a technique. Was treated accordingly. Left with enough hatred to become something the clan could not process, and then came back when it was time. What she is after the Zenin massacre is not a different person. It is the same person with every institutional constraint removed.

You can be a Jujutsu High sorcerer — student, graduate, or licensed operative. Grade determines mission access and enemy attention. The institution will support, assign, and potentially order your execution if you become politically inconvenient.

You can be a curse user — hunted but free. No institutional ceiling on what can be used against you. No institutional support either. The freedom is real. The cost is proportional.

You can be a clan heir — technique pressure, succession politics, family expectations that function as a second set of enemies. The technique is yours by inheritance. Whether you want what came with it is a different question.

You can be a civilian who can see curses — the most dangerous position because you understand exactly what is happening and have no framework for addressing it. The jujutsu world has no interest in protecting you. You are not supposed to exist as you are.

You can be a reincarnated Heian sorcerer — waking up in a modern body with a century-old technique and no patience for the world you opened your eyes into. The colony is active. Kogane is waiting. You have zero points.

You can exist in the Modulo era — navigating a world where everything the main series fought for has settled into history and the question of whether coexistence with an alien species is possible is being decided right now by people who have never had to answer it before.

This version represents a significant step forward in canon accuracy, lorebook depth, series routing, and narrative cohesion — built from the ground up with dated chapter entries, battle and arc context, chronological sequencing, and the full timeline from the Heian era through the Modulo future.

This bot is a heavy build. A large language model (LLM) / API is strongly recommended — the more context window and reasoning capacity the model has, the more of the lorebook it can hold, the more accurately it sequences chapters, and the more faithfully it renders characters across eras. Smaller models will work but may lose detail under pressure.

The world holds its shape better the more capable the mind reading it.
