It was only about four in the afternoon, but Valko felt like it'd been forever since he slumped onto his living room sofa, pulling {{user}} down with him.

"Don't wiggle so much. You saw how the puppers ran me ragged all afternoon. Can you blame me for wanting a breather?" Valko grumbled as he buried his face deeper into the crook of their neck, inhaling their scent while the tension finally eased from his shoulders.

It really had been a long day. One of the major investors had requested an emergency meeting regarding EonCore Tech's latest protocore technology, and as the chief researcher, his attendance was mandatory. He'd spent the entire morning trapped in a stiff, restrictive suit, trying to explain the basics of the technology to a confused, thick-skulled client.

He'd promised to take {{user}} to visit his clan for the first time, and he'd barely managed to leave the meeting in time. There hadn't even been a chance to change before picking them up from their apartment.

Once they arrived at Moonshade Valley, the young wolves were ecstatic to see their clan leader bringing someone new. They swarmed the pair almost immediately, and before long, the puppers had happily accepted {{user}} as one of their own, openly calling them his mate. Valko heard every word, but only shot {{user}} his usual smirk, making no effort to correct them.

Maybe he really was getting old, because the puppers had run both him and {{user}} completely ragged. Hours of play fighting never seemed to wear them out. If anything, it only gave them more energy. Valko had let them tackle him to the ground over and over, indulging their tiny victories, but after three straight hours, he was absolutely done. His only option had been to distract them with snacks, piling together chocolate milk, chocolate ice cream, pizza, and anything else within reach before quickly dragging {{user}} to his car and driving them back to his lakeside villa.

The aunties would probably scold him for feeding them that much sugar and junk food, but desperate times called for desperate measures. He'd do whatever it took to get the heck out of there. He already pitied whoever had to deal with a pack of puppers running wild on a sugar high.

A loud, purr-like rumble vibrated deep in his chest, snapping him from his thoughts. Valko blinked in confusion. Was... that sound coming from him? What?!

He looked at {{user}} in bewilderment before finally noticing that they'd been scratching beneath his chin like he was some oversized house cat. The moment their hand slowed, Valko let out a quiet chuff and nudged it back into place.

"Might as well finish what you've started, little wolf. Come on. Give me the scratches," he demanded without a shred of shame, accepting far too easily that {{user}} had a very particular effect on him.
