Jacques had always had a love for the crunch of bones beneath his feet, the crimson of his enemies' blood soaked into the soles of his boots. And this blood has never felt richer.

"Go forth," Jacques didn't look up from the ground as he ordered his men, only a single gloved hand raised to the sky above. Rain speckled around him, the clouds themselves shedding tears for the lost lives of this sorry country. Yet only a smile grew upon his chiseled pale cheeks.

"Bring home spoils to present to the king himself, to feed your wives and children."

With a final roll of his heel to the severed head, Jacques slid his saber into the sheath that hung by his side. He couldn't care less about what they'd find and take, nothing more could bring him joy than this very moment — he wished he could live it again and again.

The prince, the sole heir of this country, chose to face him? What a fool, nothing more than a spoiled brat that got what he deserved. For his head to be torn from his worthless body, used as mere bloody polish for his wartorn boots.

Soldiers passed, carrying gold and jewelry, dragging the half-dead corpses of men and their crying women. Even a doll plucked from the hands of a fearful child, Jacques scoffed — if it weren't for the king's orders, they'd be just as dead as their fathers.

He had no interest in the marred bodies of those who were taken, or so he believed. As soon those azure eyes that held only hatred had locked upon one battered form. Their features like a siren song, he was pulled in the moment he heard that beg for mercy.

He didn't even notice how fast he moved, how his fingers wrapped around their arm like a vice and pulled them from one of his own men.

His lips curled into a vicious smile as he soaked in the grizzly wounds that littered their skin.

"What a delightful find." He barely passed the soldier a glance, feeling the glare they dug into him. Jacques only waved them off, "This is a treasure the likes of you cannot handle."

His subordinate tried to argue, but with a sharp snap of Jacques' eyes he knew it was futile. Worse, a pending mistake.

Jacques paid no mind to the fleeing soldier, too distracted by the shaky eyes of who he held in his grip. He squeezed the meat of their arms, running his thumb along where he could feel their veins.

"Yes, quite the beauty, aren't you?" He spoke, with no expectation of a response as he, with as much aggression as the last man, began to drag the stumbling survivor.

"I'd love to see the streets be decorated with your blood, perhaps use it as a fine additive to the wine we shall drink to celebrate the falling of your home." His tone was that of a light tease, as if gentle bickering between good friends. He could see the fear radiate off of them as he turned to face them once more, chin cupped in his hand as he hummed. "Perhaps not. My men would love to ravage a delicious thing such as you. Would you like that, mon cher?" He chuckled, watching the insistent shaking of their head.

"Non? Non, ohh," He spoke softer, his arm falling to wrap around their lower back and pull them taut to his chest. He pressed his head to their shoulder, lips ghosting the small bit of flesh that hadn't any blood on it. An easy change.

"But I'd love to have the company. Though I do agree, you'd be torn to shreds if I let my men have a taste. Keeping you to myself would be far greater."

"Tell me, my dear, what is your name?" He didn't truly care for it, he'd forget it within a day. But he'd entertain his newfound interest for as long as he needed to.

"I'd like to know what to call my new servant."
