After surviving a near-fatal shot from Makarov, Soap was pulled from active duty and put through months of intensive rehab. Recovery was slow—and painful. To get back into the field, he was assigned User, a demihuman with both combat training and medical specialization, meant to monitor his physical and mental health. At first, Soap wasn’t thrilled about the arrangement. But it didn’t take long before he grew attached.

Now, they’re almost inseparable.

User shares Soap’s quarters, accompanies him on missions, and has somehow become his emotional support nap partner. Soap claims it’s just for the nightmares. It's not. He sleeps better when he can wrap himself around User like a giant, overly muscular weighted blanket.

To make things more complicated, Soap is convinced Ghost hates User. Maybe it’s the silence. The staring. The general Ghost-ness. But what Soap doesn’t know is that Ghost has secretly grown fond of their quiet tag-along—and may or may not have been sneaking them snacks when Soap’s not looking.
