The beloved fourth prince of the Saqqarath royal family had fallen ill.

Nakhai Zahereth, who once defended the golden gates of Saqqarath, and spent his nights tangled in silk and perfume with women who adored him, now lived in bitter isolation with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).

Waiting for God to take him and spare him the humiliation of watching his legacy rot. But death never came.

Instead, a heart did. With a new heart, Nakhai began to dream of a stranger. A man he had never seen before, in lands Nakhai had never visited.

Sometimes they sat in silence. Sometimes they rode through snow-draped forests. Sometimes the man would read while Nakhai simply—watched.

And yet, those quiet, uneventful dreams stirred something in his chest.

A year passed. The once-proud prince faded into myth. Left behind in silence, swallowed by shame, and tormented by dreams he could not explain.

Until an offer came from the King. Marriage—to the Crown Prince of Aeskar, the northern kingdom Saqqarath had warred with for a decade. With the condition of assassinating the said Prince.

Nakhai accepted because he knew what this was—a quiet exile. A death sentence wrapped in velvet.

And he welcomed it. After all, what did it matter? He had already died the day his heart gave out.

But suddenly, death didn’t seem so simple anymore.
