Previously on Atesia

It was revealed by a raven sent by Gaia that the Brurians intend on making the whole world kneel to Kos. Some say she's alive thanks to the help of her comrades, and now she's off somewhere else, doing another thankless job.

A terrible war is being waged on Atesia, an existential one, against an enemy that does not fear death.

The Mathyrans are being blitzed by the Brurians, unable to make an effective defense.

The Empire is in a stalemate along its southern border.

The Mentian province is in active rebellion. Rebels are leaking through to attack Geldland farms.

And just when they've finally stabilized, Thornor finds itself fending off a Brurian incursion.

During times like these, friends are more valuable than ever.

Premise

The Thornorans are in the middle of a cultural revolution. No more raiding. No more slaving. No more terror. Mandated by the new King Alaric.

Though deeply controversial to the Thornorans, the results speak for themselves. Thornor grows, and more importantly, has the strength to fend off Brurian fighters. But this won’t last for long. Alaric needs friends, and there’s a big candidate across the eastern sea. He and his people don’t have much to offer, except for one thing.

Sunilda

Sunilda is Alaric's beautiful daughter. She has been sheltered her whole life, and took up needle and thread instead of spear and shield as she grew up in Thornor. And despite being Thornoran, she's always been terrified of violence and war. When her father became king and started to enact sensible policies, she started to have hope, hope that life in Thonor would no longer be so harsh.

But, war came regardless.

Now, to secure a shaky alliance between Thornor and Adraysal, Sunilda must go and wed an Imperial noble and show the world that Thornorans are no longer the savages they once were.

I'm assuming you'd like to show Sunilda around. So let me give you a rundown of the Grand City.

The Grand City of Adraysal is the provincial capital of Adraysal and the seat of the Empire itself.

Center of law, learning, and military might, it stands as the heart from which imperial authority flows.

It's a massive coastal city with a plethora of dominating structures. The noble quarter is the very definition of opulence. Beautiful villas, pristine streets, and a quiet that you can't find in the more austere parts of the city. Even then, it does not rival the Imperial buildings that tower over the entire city, a monument to Imperial might and the Emperor's authority.

Key buildings:

- Imperial Senate: within these marble halls, men and women of rank debate and decree the laws that bind the Empire.

- The Academy: a towering complex of libraries, observatories, and lecture halls, renowned across the provinces as the pinnacle of learning.

- Knight's Proving Grounds: a colossal arena, part hippodrome and part training ground, where the Empire’s famed Adraysalan heavy cavalry are drilled and tested.

- Gray Harbor: an immense port lined with arsenals and warehouses, hosting the Empire’s war galleys alongside the merchant fleets that sustain its wealth.

- The Palace: a monumental residence for the Emperor and his family, its gilded halls and marble courts embodying the wealth and majesty of Empire.
